Abbie and Matt | Chicheley Hall

On a beautiful sunny, crisp autumn day, at the grand setting of Chicheley Hall in Buckinghamshire, Abbie and Matt tied the knot in a ceremony that was equal parts romantic and fun - with a dash of Dutch flair (more on that in a moment!).

If you’ve ever been to Chicheley Hall, you’ll know all about the grand staircase, and it did not disappoint as the gorgeous

wedding party started the ceremony, followed by Abbie’s dad proudly escorting her down the aisle to the romantic tones of a piano rendition of I Can’t Help Falling in Love with You.

Matt’s beaming smile at our end of the aisle said it all.

Now, let’s talk about Matt here for a moment. As a proud Dutchman with family and friends who had travelled from the Netherlands, I wanted to honour his roots. So, I dusted off my language skills and learned a little Dutch - enough to earn myself a round of applause during the ceremony! (And yes, I might STILL be holding onto that moment...)

Abbie and Matt’s ceremony was peppered with personal touches, and none more special than the readings by their friends Sarah and Matt C.

Sarah delivered a lovely poem called The One, which struck just the right romantic chord. A little later in the ceremony there was Matt C, who read Love is Friendship Caught Fire - a piece that seemed especially fitting, considering his unique role in the couple’s love story. You see, Matt C was actually the matchmaker behind Abbie and Matt’s relationship back in 2019, earning himself a hearty round of applause early on in the ceremony, and quite rightly so!

Abbie and Matt’s son, Elias, had his own starring role as t

he ringbearer. With a little help from his cousin Tessa, Elias took on his big responsibility, melting hearts along the way. It was a moment of family love and connection - exactly what weddings are all about in my opinion!

After exchanging vows and sealing it all with a kiss, the newlyweds made their way back up the aisle to the unmistakable energy of I Believe in a Thing Called Love by The Darkness. It was the perfect ending to a ceremony that celebrated not just love but also joy, humour, and a dash of rock ’n’ roll spirit.

Abbie and Matt’s wedding was a true reflection of who they are as a couple - warm, loving, and full of laughter. From the touching nods to family and friends to the involvement of their little boy, every moment felt deeply personal and meaningful.

Here’s to Abbie, Matt, Elias, and all the adventures ahead for this wonderful family. Cheers to love, laughter, and happily ever after!

(P.S. If anyone needs a crash course in Dutch, I’m available for weddings, parties, and enthusiastic applause!)
